A happy, healthy long-lasting relationship sometimes looks more like a partnership of pragmatic exchanges. The bathroom door left open. Bad moods are shared, without filter. Bad breath shared, without filter. Comfortable in our lodgings, we reserve our best bits for strangers. So, this is what real love looks like, after all. But maybe a blissfully sweet night in together isn’t just about reminding ourselves who we fell in love with, but a necessary return to the person we were, when we fell in love.

Line a loaf pan with parchment paper. Leave long ends extending so you can lift the ice cream terrine out for cutting. Choose three sorbet, gelato, or ice cream flavors that complement each other. Make one a fruit sorbet!
For the first layer, take the ice cream (sorbet or gelato) out of the freezer, and wait until it is soft enough to smooth into an even layer at the bottom of your pan. Put in the freezer to harden, 30-40 minutes.
For your fruit sorbet layer, put the sorbet into a blender, add 3 oz of Aplós (more or less to taste), and blend. Do the same with each layer, freezing solid in between, until you have filled the pan to the very top.
When you have all of your layers, freeze for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
To serve, lift the terrine out of the pan. Carefully peel away the parchment paper. Run a knife under warm water to help you cut slices more easily.
